Sinabung ash fall
Two students from my volcanology class last semester are originally from the area around Sinabung volcano. Last semester break, they went back to their hometown and collected volcanic ash fall samples from seven eruptions in between January and February 2018. This project aims to see temporal textural variation of these volcanic ash.
Subducting slab heterogeneity
During my doctoral studies, where I try to quantify subduction slab contribution in Java-arc magmas, one of many things that I notice is the degree of heterogeneity of the subducting slab. For now, I start with geochemical analysis of 20 basalts and 20 marine sediments form Indian Ocean. I wish to see compositional changes from across the Indian Ocean and how it affects the Java arc magmas.
